LCT (3) WITH SHERMAN TANK with
WADING KIT & 6 US SOLDIERS ON DIORAMA BASE
Dragon Armour's fantastic
new set includes an LCM(3) tank landing craft, plus an accurate and
well-detailed M4A1 tank kit. The tank has been readied for the
invasion by having deep-water wading stacks added. The M4A1 tank
accurately reflects how a tank would have appeared when storming the
beaches of Normandy. But, there’s much more included in this Dragon
Armour Diorama Set! A team of six U.S. infantrymen, a crew of three
sailors for the LCM(3), plus a series of beach obstacles (so-called
“hedgehogs”), are all included. All these components come together
on a complete diorama base provided in the box. Each item has been
assembled and painted with great care.
This is a truly
comprehensive set that brings D-Day to life, enabling collectors to
recreate one of the most momentous days of WWII! |

GERMAN PANTHER Ausf.G 1.SS.Pz.Div.
LSSAH FRANCE 1944 Dragon
Armor’s newest release is a Late Production variant of the Panther G
dressed in markings of 1st Panzerdivision “Leibstandarte SS Adolf
Hitler”. This division was based in France at the time of the Allied
landings in Normandy in June 1944. After arriving in the area in
late June after suffering repeated air attacks, it was engaged in
fierce battles around Caen. After a fighting withdrawal, it was able
to escape the Falaise pocket and proceeded to retreat through France
and Belgium. This new 1/72 scale Panther G bears a coating of
Zimmerit, a feature that has been accurately replicated in
miniature. Painted in a three-colour camouflage scheme. |

GERMAN KINGTIGER HENSCHEL TURRET 1./S.Pz.Abt. FHH HUNGARY 1945 After
enjoying major success of the Battle of Debrecen, the division
fought in co-operation with sPzAbt 503 and was soon involved in the
withdrawal towards Budapest. The Panzergrenadier Division, sPzAbt
503 and the 13. Panzer-Division Feldherrnhalle, by now exhausted and
dangerously understrength, were pushed back into the city. On
December 21, 1944, sPzAbt 503 was renamed schwere-Panzer-Abteilung
Feldherrnhalle. On December 31, the three formations were encircled
along with IX. SS-Gebirgskorps. For the next month, the
Feldherrnhalle units desperately held out for rescue. After the
failure of Operation Konrad, Armeegruppe Balck's rescue attempts,
the pocket collapsed and the divisions were destroyed on February
12, 1945. Among those to escape the pocket was a group of several
hundred Feldherrnhalle men. |

JAGDTIGER HENSCHEL TYPE s.Pz.Abt.653
The Jagdtiger first appeared as two prototypes design by Porsche and
Henschel respectively with the major difference being in the number
of road wheels used. These were designated as Jagdtiger VI but later
renamed to the more common designation of SdKfz 186. The tank
destroyer featured the most powerful anti-tank gun of the war in the
128mm PaK L/55 - an armament that could quite literally shoot and
defeat enemy armour before they were ever in range to fire back -
and was fixed into position in the upper hull. Frontal armour took
precedence and was nearly 10 inches thick. A crew of five to 6
personnel was needed to man the machine. The first unit to receive
the Jagdtiger was s.Pz.Abt.653, as a replacement for the Elefant. |

PzKpfw KW II 754 (KV 11 captured) Panzerkompanie (zbv) 66, Malta
invasion force, 1941
During
the Spring of 1941 Germany was debating whether to attack the
British stronghold of Crete or Malta. Newly acquired tanks captured
from Russian forces were going to be used for the operations. T-34s
and KV-2s were combined into a special company designated (z.b.v.)
66. This company was to be used specifically for the invasion of
Malta where the KV-2s would make perfect bunker busters. In March of
1941 in preparation for the Malta invasion the captured KV-2s were
painted in tropical camouflage schemes of Gelbraun (yellow-brown)
and Graubraun (grey-brown) along with a small Balkenkreuz (black
cross – national symbol) on the side of the turret. Another
modification made to the KV-2s was the addition of a PzKpfw III
Commander’s cupola. |

Pershing KOREA 6th
Tank Battalion, Pusan Perimeter 1950
The M45 Pershing was based on the
M26 hull and turret but with a short-barreled 105mm Howitzer
replacing the long-barreled 90mm gun. This was the same gun used on
the 105mm Howitzer Shermans. Capable of firing a variety of high
explosive smoke and anti-tank rounds provisions were made to carry
74 rounds of the 105mm ammunition. It retained the co-axial and hull
mounted .30 caliber machine guns as well as the turret roof mounted
.50 caliber machine gun found on earlier models. Since the 105mm
barrel was substantially shorter and lighter than the 90mm gun it
meant thicker armor could be applied to the turret and mantlet. |

T-55A RUSSIAN MEDIUM TANK "383"
After WWII
Russia began mass production of their T-54/55 tanks. It carried an
impressive 100mm main gun on a low silhouette with a turret designed
for maximum protection. It also has a very distinctive space between
the first and second road wheels. The T-55A version has
anti-radiation capabilities plus a few minor improvements.
Production also took place in Czechoslovakia, Poland and China
(model T-59) with approximately 95,000 tanks of all variants being
produced. The T-55 has been used in over 40 countries and after
almost 50 years many are still in use. |

M26 CHAFFEE - GERMANY 1945
The M-24 Chaffee was named after
Major General Adna Romanza Chaffee Jr. who is considered the father
of the US Armored branch. It was developed to correct the
deficiencies found in the M-3 Stuart by
increasing the armor, a new 75mm main gun and the first time a
torsion bar suspension was added to an American tank. It wasn’t
until the latter months of the war in Europe that the Chaffee made
its appearance but they played a major role in the Battle of the
Bulge and the push into Germany. The M-24 was considered as possibly
the best Light Tank of WWII. |

M8 UTILITY CAR A
Troop, 25th Mechanized Cavalry Recon. Sqn., 4th Armored Division
The
American M8 was equipped with a 37mm gun and 6X6 wheel drive and was
the main recon vehicle used by the US military during WWII. The only
positive thing the crews had to say about the vehicle was it was
reliable and fast on roads. It performed poorly off road, was very
lightly armored with only sheet metal for a floor. It had an open
top with no periscopes and exposed the crew to weather and enemy
fire. Over 8,500 were manufactured in 1942 – 1943. |

M8 UTILITY CAR - 2nd
Armoured Div., 82 Armored Recon. Battlion, C. Co., 1st Platoon,
France, August 1944
The
M20 was an Armoured Utility Car that was also known as an M20 Scout
Car. It was a converted M8 without the revolving turret so there
would be room for passenger seats, radio equipment, a Commanders
table and the ring mounting for a .50 calibre heavy machine gun. The
crew was also provided a bazooka for defence to help compensate for
the lack of heavy armour. This configuration meant there was an open
top but it did provide a certain amount of protection for the crew
from small arms fire or shrapnel. The M20 had a top speed of 90km/h
and was quite agile which made it well suited for forward
reconnaissance work. The vehicle was also used as an APC and cargo
carrier. The M20 started life in 1943 as the M10 Armoured Utility Car
but was changed to M20 so it wouldn’t be confused with the M10 TD.
The M20 had a rather short production life from 1943 to 1944 but
during this brief period Ford produced 3800 units. |

German WWII LUFTWAFFE
3-Ton CARGO TRUCK (Early Version)
These 3-ton cargo trucks became the
back-bone of the German military transports. The
military
designation for these 3-ton trucks was Kfz. 305. Originally designed
as a 4X2 rear-wheel drive but in 1940 a 4-wheel design was made
available and it became very much appreciated by its crew for the
cross country abilities. This variant of the 3-ton was
used primarily for cargo transportation but could
easily be adapted to handle troops. These 3-ton trucks continued to
be manufactured even when WWII was declared ended and the S type
became the most used truck for German commercial transport.

during the famous North African campaign from 1941 to 1943. Known

The SDKFZ 7 was the standard towing tractor for
the German Army. Produced in huge numbers and normally found towing
the dreaded 88mm Gun. Our model came into service mid war to cope
with the increase in Allied air power, and was possibly the most
effective of the mobile quick firing Flak Guns. |
